Toyota has finally joined the EV revolution with its first all-electric vehicle, the bZ4X.

Toyota has been a leader in hybrid technology with models like the Prius, and hybrids now dominate its lineup.

Two bZ4X models are available: the single-motor "Pure" (150kW/266Nm) and the dual-motor "Motion" (160kW/337Nm). Both have a 71.4kWh battery, offering a range of up to 485km for the Motion and 535km for the Pure, though real-world figures are closer to 426km and 389km, respectively.

Driving the Pure model is a pleasure, with smooth acceleration and decent handling. It feels well-balanced. The Pure lacks power modes but has an Eco mode to slightly reduce energy use. The regen button for one-pedal driving could be better placed for safety.

The bZ4X handles well, especially compared to similar models, with minimal understeer. It’s comfortable for everyday use, with plush seats and ample rear space.

The Motion variant adds luxury features like synthetic leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced parking assistance. It also offers AWD, making it more versatile.

Both models come with Toyota Safety Sense, including adaptive cruise control and road sign recognition. The Motion’s additional features, like a 360-degree camera and a JBL sound system, enhance the driving experience.

In summary, the bZ4X is a solid entry into the EV market, it offers a lot in terms of performance, comfort, and technology.
